Tapewire vs Roundwire: What's the difference?
      Tapewire Instruction (for Kit #7999)
Tapewire is the first choice for dollhouse wiring. Tapewire is most easily installed as a house is being constructed or as it is being completed but not yet finished on the inside. It is versatile in that it sets the stage for a lifetime of adding to, and re-decorating a dollhouse... if you've put tapewire in all the places that may ask for a fixture in the fullness of time, then adding a fixture later is a snap (which means you don't have to buy all the fixtures ahead of time). Tapewire is easy and quick, and is easy to finish over.

Roundwire is the easiest and least expensive wiring to install for a few fixtures that you already have and if you know exactly where they will go. For that reason, it is most often used in small vignettes and room boxes. Roundwire is also the first choice for retro-fitting a dollhouse that has been finished on the inside but not wired with tapewire.

A builder who is using roundwire will often make false walls or ceilings and will finish the interior, then wire through the false wall, and finally will attach the false wall with stripwood or double-sided tape so it can be removed for service. This can be done with flooring too, holding it in place with baseboard for builders who prefer to wire above a ceiling.

Roundwire is often routed along the back edges of walls and floors in grooves cut with a Dremel and hidden by stripwood, baseboard or crown.
